How To Use Yale Smart Locks For Your Airbnb

Airanb-smart-phone

If you love your holiday you must have booked holiday homes via Airbnb or Booking.com or directly from hosts like ourselves. You might have travelled to the holiday home and you cannot seem to see a key hole, keybox or anything remotely familiar with normal locks operated with keys. I think with COVID the necessity for remote check-in has accented the heightened use of smart keyless locks similar to Yale Smart Lock. In this article, I will talk about how to use one of these smart locks so you don’t feel stressed while checking in to your holiday home.

When you arrive you may see no keys but something looking similar to the above lock. It will look slick and you will see no numbers for you to enter your code, but don’t worry and don’t fret. This short article will help you to understand how to use smart locks.

The screen of the lock will look like the above image and enter the code you simply need to put your palm on the screen. The digits will light up when you touch the screen. If it does not light up then the battery on the lock might have died and you would need to call the host or get 9V Battery. You will be able to place the battery at the bottom of the lock, which will give sufficient charge for the lock to work. Given that the smart lock has enough battery you will see the digits immediately.

Since it is sensitive for human touch it will light up and show the digits from 0 to 9 and star and hash icons. Press the relevant numbers communicated to you by your host and press star sign at the end. Do not forget to press star sign at the end and then turn the silver knob to the RIGHT on the lock.

If the door has not opened then you also need to press the handle to the LEFT.  If the door has handle then it might be on the hook of the handle, so you put the code and then the star, turn the silver knob to the RIGHT and the handle to the LEFT. That is it! You are in!
